Longthorpe Tower displays one of the most complete and important sets of 14th-century domestic wall paintings in northern Europe. This varied &#8216;spiritual encyclopaedia&#8217; of worldly and religious subjects includes the Wheel of Life, the Nativity and King David.<\/p>\n<p>The Tower, which is cared for by English Heritage and managed locally by the Nene Park Trust, is a stone tower, built around 1290\u20131300, and is the only surviving part of a 14th-century fortified manor house. What makes this building truly remarkable are the stunning wall paintings, added around 1330 to the first floor rooms, and are some of the finest examples of medieval domestic art in northern Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The Society is planning on visiting the Tower in the Summer of 2027, so this is a golden opportunity to learn all about the fantastic features before the visit.<\/p>\n<p>The information about how to access the ZOOM Meeting will be sent to all members prior to the meeting.
