Clerical Wars: the Coming of Anglo-Catholicism to 19th Century St Ives, David Yeandle, Professor Emeritus, Kings College, London.
David is a native of St Ives who has spend a lifetime studying medieval German literature, but this evening will bring us an illustrated version of a paper being prepared for ‘Records of Huntingdonshire’ on the very different world of clerical behaviour and public reaction in a quiet English market town with one of the great socio-religious struggles of the Victorian Age thrust upon it. How did this happen and what were the consequences are questions to be addressed.
