Private Visit to Elton Hall and Gardens
Thurs. 11 June, 11 a.m. Private visit to Elton Hall and Gardens. starting at Bosworth’s Garden Centre next door just off the A605 where there are toilets and parking. The guide will meet us in the carpark for an hour’s tour of the inside of the Hall, containing many ‘Old Masters’, and home to the Proby family since 1660. We will finish in the award-winning gardens where we can look around “at leisure “ finishing at approx. 1.00 pm before the public arrive. Regrettably, the hall is not accessible with mobility aids.
Please note, we have not made a group booking for tea or coffee before the visit to the Hall. Also, If you want lunch at the garden centre cafe or the Black Horse pub nearby, It would be wise to book for lunch as they are both are very popular and usually well booked.
We would suggest driving on to the Black Horse car park before going across the road to Elton Church (approx. 1270-1500 ) for 2:30pm, for a tour with Ashley Mather, one of our members, and Rev Ian Browne a local historian to look at the relocated Saxon crosses (assisted by Goodliff Funds) and the recently restored fine Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris workshop stained glass windows plus tea and cake. The church has no toilets, but the Black Horse will let us use theirs.
Meet at 10:45 am at Bosworth’s Garden Centre next door just off the A605, where there are toilets and parking. Our guide will meet us in the carpark.
Cost: Elton Hall £17.00; plus donations to the church
Book by Wednesday 3rd June.
