Society Zoom – Kings College and 15th Century Cambridge

This is a short talk prior to the Society’s visit to Kings College, Cambridge on the 15th January. Our Chairman, Philip Saunders, will provide us with an insight into the history of Kings College in context of 15th-Century Cambridge, at the time of the foundation of the College to set the background for the guided visit the following morning. Philip was previously Principle Archivist for Cambridgeshire County Council and inter alia, looked after the archives of the medieval borough.

Kings College Chapel is one of the world’s most famous buildings, visited annually by thousands. The exterior will be familiar and acts virtually as an official logo for the City, and the interior is truely breathtaking. But, how many nowadays come from the immediate vicinity? Its very popularity may act as a disincentive. We have arranged this tour at this time of year to provide an opportunity to experience the Chapel when it is quietest.

The information on accessing the Zoom talk will be sent to all members prior to the day
