FARM HALL GODMANCHESTER – LIFE DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR – HOUSE OF SPIES AND INTRIGUE

This quiet country house in Godmanchester on the banks of the River Great Ouse holds lots of secrets. Hidden behind its unassuming windows is a tale of special operations, secret groups, spies and resistance movements. Local historian Roger Leivers, who has been researching this glamorous ‘James Bond’ type story, will talk to us about the magic of the house, its mysterious occupants, the intriuing recruitment methods, dangerous missions behind enemy lines and the links to the clandestine airbase at Tempsford and the attempts by Germany to eliminate the operations going on in the house. Roger’s research culminated in the publication of his book ‘Godmanchester at War’ which I am sure he would be delighted to sell to you on the night.

Come along to Huntingdon Methodist Church on the 12th November at 7:30pm and listen to what Roger has researched about the house and the people behind the story

The talk is free to members, guests and visitors are welcome but we ask for a small donation of £3 per person to help cover the cost of the evening.

After the talk come and join us for a cup of tea or coffee, meet Roger and our members.  Learn more about the Society and what we do in the local area.
